Chrome OS 56 is now available for the district. This release brings some major visual changes, as the taskbar and other areas have been updated to Material Design. 56 also introduces a new dynamic auto-update notification. Also, in the automatic update front, updates will be applied when a user logs out, as well as when they reboot. The system will force reboot to apply the update on the next log in. This is another tool to help us keep our devices up to update across the district.
For Visually Impaired users, Chromebooks now default to the new version of ChromeVox (ChromeVox Next) as the default screen reader. ChromeVox Next includes an easier to use interface, better support for USB attached Braille readers, and much more. This video walks through all the new features and enhancements.
