Chrome OS 70 is available as of January 4th, 2019. The tenth anniversary Chrome OS release sports a new user interface including rounded elements, a new color palette, and new icons. But no worries — the user experience will feel familiar, but with a few major changes in layout. The redesign may be even more compelling to tablet users, who will also notice the new floating (rather than docked) keyboard in tablet mode.
The control panel at the bottom-right has been redesigned quite a bit. The current time, battery level, WiFi indicator, and notifications are now in a grid rather than their old column layout. User logout can still be found at the very top of the control panel, as can the system settings gear. Icons in the dock are no longer left-justified after migrating to the center of the screen.
Enjoy the sleek new look!
