Some highlights of these changes are:
- New Sign in and Lock Screen design
- Sleek new blurred background with circle avatar. It looks pretty nice, and shows some of the ways that ChromeOS is starting to grow up into a full fledged operating system.
- New default profile avatar and picker
- Including new Animated Gifs. Yes, our students will surely enjoy these. I’m personally a fan of the dragon. It breathes fire!

- New App launcher
- The new app launcher is the “Peeking launcher.” This Pixel-esque design is now the default experience in Chrome OS 61. Clicking the Circle Apps Drawer initially opens a peek at the last 5 Apps Used. Click on the arrow at the bottom to open the rest of the Apps Panel.

Also, not a feature we support at ITS, but interesting nonetheless, Chrome OS 61 also removes the “Ok Google” hotword to start a voice search. It will likely return with the launch of Google Assistant for Chromebooks (which I am told we will be able to limit via the Admin Console).
